The nuggalope herd arrives

[The sending crystal may not be able to actually show the big grin on Korrin's face when she speaks up, but it carries across in her tone, nonetheless. She has every reason to be smug, as she quickly reveals.]

So, remember how I've been going on about nuggalopes forever? Well, we found the nuggalope herd and brought them back with us. They aren't especially touchy but if you don't want to be trampled or gored by their horns, I'd still suggest treating them kindly. Those who haven't checked out the stables lately might want to do so now, if you've an interest in a different kind of mount. Horsemaster Dennet still doesn't know what to make of these, poor guy.

They're also--hey, stop that!

[She laughs as one grunts right in her ear, into the crystal's range. Evidently it wanted to say hello.]

Well, thank you. The Inquisition needed more mounts and I needed to see these for myself. Why not get both in one shot?

They are in the stables now, I presume? I should very much like to see these creatures in person. Unless they are still too unsettled from transport.

[Vivienne might be used to Orlesians and their acquisition of all manner of collections, the more odd and rarer, the better. But this will be a first for her.]

Nah, I waited a bit before activating the sending crystal just in case anyone would want to see them right away. They're pretty settled now, though poor Dennet still doesn't know what to make of them just yet.

I'm not entirely certain I would know either, unless they're like overgrown nugs.

[Even then... what does one do with an oversized nug? Hmm.]

I shall join you directly. No doubt there is a thrilling tale to go with their acquisition.

They are, but way more awesome and less timid. With their size, they can afford to be.

Absolutely, and I'll be glad to share it in person.

[There's some snuffling in the background as her nuggalope leans in again.]

[Vivienne does not delay in quitting her balcony and making the journey down to the stables. Her curiosity has been piqued. Fortunately, Korrin is easy to spot from a distance and can point out the correct place to go looking.]

There you are, my dear. It's so good to see you.

[Korrin looks over and grins, her mind not straying to politics or training for once when she spots Vivienne. Right now, she's too high on her success spare any thought for other matters, and the reason is right beside her. One of the nuggalops, decked out in Avvar war paint is sniffing at her own horns before turning is attention to the newcomer, grunting as it peers at her.]

I think he likes your 'horns'.

[The reference to her hat brings out a genuine smile from Vivienne. It rather tarnishes the imposing appearance she prefers to keep, but just this once cannot hurt.]

It seems he's equally fond of yours. What a fascinating creature! It truly does look like a large nug. With horns.

[She takes in it's appearance, careful not to tread too closely lest it spook.]

I do believe it could use some horn jewelry.

[Don't worry, Vivienne, the nuggalope will never tell...and neither will Korrin. No one would believe her. At that suggestion, Korrin looks back to the nuggalope, who patiently lets her stroke its horns.]

Hm, good point. Some horn caps or whatnot would make it even more imposing than it is now. I'll have to look into getting some. And they're a lot less skittish than normal nugs, but make up for it in stubbornness. It's good to have a spirited mount, though. Once you gain their trust, I think they turn out to be better mounts than horses.

In a blood red, I think. Let's go for truly intimidating. I had horn points made for Iron Bull at Wintersend. I'm certain it could be done again for these fine steeds.

[With the right amount of accessories to go with the Avaar war paint, they could well work as a downright frightening set of mounts. Lovely. Sometimes it's good for people to be reminded of the power held by the Inquisition.]

[The nuggalope doesn't seem to care one way or another about its appearance, instead snuffling around for treats. Korrin hands over an apple, and there's some contented munching for a time. She darts a grin at mention of horn bling, always a favored subject with her.]

That would be epic. I'm sure every nuggalope rider would love them having some bling.

...I still can't get over them having hands, you know. But it makes for a sturdier ride, I'll say that much.

Mmm yes I could see that. A benefit over the use of horses, though I imagine they haven't got quite that sort of speed.

[Now Vivienne is contemplating how promising they would prove as cavalry mounts in a pitched battle. Study over speed.]

Has Sister Leliana seen them yet?

No, not quite, but when you'e on slick mountain paths, sturdiness can count for a lot more than speed.

[At mention of Leliana, Korrin shakes her head.]

She must be buried in work. I might have to let her know personally, if she doesn't check sending crystals often. I'm a little curious to see how they behave with their smaller cousins, so hopefully she'll bring one of hers down.

[Just one. Korrin doesn't need to play 'let's find the wayward nugs' again.]

No doubt she'll find them fascinating. And will want to have a hand in their attire.

[Yes, Vivienne mentioned clothes. For the nuggalopes.]

Nug fashions are all the rage in Orlais right now. Her work, of course. Everyone was so fascinated by her gift from the Hero of Ferelden.

Schmooples III had his own waistcoat at the soiree. Did you see it?

[Wait, what.]

...um, no. I didn't.

[And if she had, Korrin might have kidnapped the poor thing to free it from the confines of its prison. Seriously, nug clothing? She glances over to the nugglope, lips twitching.]

You want to try dressing them, be my guest. Just remember they're less docile than the nugs. We were lucky no one got trampled.

[Asher -since that's what she has named him- will be clothing-free no matter what, she's decided. Any item would undermine the war paint's effect.]

[Vivienne holds up a hand to forestall being volunteered to manually dress the creatures. With any luck, Leliana can see the practicality of settling for war paint and horn bling.]

Not a job I would wish, I assure you. Though, I could see an argument made for a lightly armored harness.

[Her lips twitch impishly. Mainly because what she intends to suggest is just what she did with a bit of scales picked off the dragon she helped down in the Western Approach.]

Although perhaps something made of dragon scale would prove sufficiently intimidating to onlookers.

[Alright, armor is perfectly acceptable. Korrin nods in approval, then grins at mention of dragon scale.]

Dragon scale nuggalope armor...I like the way you think. I don't have any materials for that left over, but it'd be worth hunting down another dragon just for that.

Indeed. I only had enough for a stunning hat. That charming researcher from the University of Orlais wanted the body left intact for study. Poor dear, all alone in the heat of the Western Approach.

[More amused smile. Naturally Korrin would want to go dragon hunting again.]

If you locate a dragon for hunting, I could be persuaded to assist with its slaying. We would be the talk of Orlais.

[Well, how can she resist such an offer? It's not possible. Korrin grins, fairly certain how this will end, between two knight-enchanters.]

That dragon won't know what hit it. I'll have to get on that soon, then. There was one annoying the Storm Coast, I'll have to ask and see if it's still around.

[If not, she isn't worried. There are always more. The nuggalope grunts and paws at the ground, earning a pat from her.]

Restless, eh? We can fix that. [And she glances back over to Vivienne again.] What do you say, want to try one out?

[Vivienne shakes her head, just enough to be gracious in her declining of the offer.]

I'm not dressed for a ride, darling, though I wouldn't wish to keep you from indulging yourself and letting him stretch his legs.

[Being appropriately garbed or not would never stop Korrin, but she knows better than to think Vivienne can be swayed on that point.]

I probably should, just to calm him down. He's not used to stables, so it'll take some time for him to adjust. I think as long as he has regular trips outside, he'll be fine.

I'll have Harritt come up once you've returned and assess what's required for battle harnesses. Without getting too close for now.

[That perks her up and she grins.]

Thanks...and good idea. Asher here isn't aggressive, really, but he's still getting used to people. I don't want him getting nervous.
