What a tumultuous time it is in this world. An empire at war, ancient protectors showing what many feel to be their true colors, strangers falling from the sky -- the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I am not of this world, though it bares similarities to my own -- namely a prominent disdain for the other and ridiculous class differences -- as much it it shows its differences. Empires rise and fall; I admittedly have little interest in wars that have played out hundreds of times in similar ways across hundreds of worlds.

However, I do want to know what you find interesting about this world, if you will share.

The inscrutable other, I suppose, not so much a person as an idea.

People certainly do not enjoy having their traditions upset. "We have always done it this way" is rarely a positive thing, in my experience.

Being considered an other within the other I agree, I would like to see certain traditions come to an end myself.

[Such as even inequality. Unfortunately he's become part of the system, such as it is. It is the unjust world that they live in.]

A complicated question, I thought I did when I was the champion of the Empress. I like to think I am by helping the Inquisition.

What does the champion of the Empress do?

They protect the Empress or Emperor of Orlais, essentially, they have to be skilled in various forms of combat.

Ah. There is a similar role in the Empire of the Isles, in my own world -- the Lord Protector.

Of course, the most recent was framed for the murder of the Empress.

Fortunately I can say that I have not been framed for the murder of royalty, but I do have other problems in that regard.

And you found no dishonor in betraying your Empress? Did that not also fail an oath?

It was a damned if you do and damned if you do not situation. Killing a man on his knees and breaking a promise felt less honorable to me at the time.

I'm not at Skyhold, but it has been...somewhat problematic.
