Crystal; Is there a greeting card for this?

FORM: Crystal
SENDER: Gela
RECIPIENT: All
NOTES: Discussion of events that went down at Yvoire

If your house and most of your town had been destroyed by, say — demons, corpses and a magically established barrier-dome (inhale,) what is something you could receive that may ease a bit of that discomfort?

(Officially sourcing ideas for: a little treat)

Is there anything recoverable from the house, or like, totally destroyed?
youwonscience: (I feel it all)

OK, [softer]. I think ... maybe first, some new clothes, so I'm not stuck with just what's on my back? Or if that's not an issue, maybe something pretty I could add, like a ring or a scarf. So I could express myself a little beyond just what's totally necessary. To feel a little more normal.

It's a good thought. I think... obviously everyone's different, but after that kind of trauma, something that feels one step toward something more routine. Familiar, maybe, if that's possible.

Probably, new house.

If there’s anywhere in Orlais — where we could walk ’em without going straight through an invasion force, say — that’s had been hit hard with the war, might be able to kill two birds with one stone, though.

Logistics is a bit beyond my pay grade, mind you, so it might not be any more realistic than new house. We might earn double the gratitude and get people new houses, though, if there’s anywhere fits the bill.

Knowing someone gives a shit can make all the difference.

[ask how he knows]

Coin, supplies, opportunities to relocate if they want. Support if they don't.

Depends. How many died?

Yeah, how many? 'Cause if there's few enough for us to knock off the survivors —
bouchonne: (ummm?????)

Excuse me. Don’t chime in like I’m going to agree with your baseness and villainy. I’m a virtuous and decent man.

Uh-huh.

Anyway, we meant to be keeping none of this secret, or d'you figure that's shot to shit? 'Cause if one of them opens their mouth wrong it's a buncha cursed madmen we're pawning off on the next town.

That’s an unkind way to describe it.

And the world's starshine and we all love magic. What's your read on it? We keep this quiet, or not?

My read is that most people are reactionary fools. Better to keep the amount of information they can react to to a minimum.

( One of their new arrivals has been quiet on the crystals, and hasn’t made much of an effort to chat; but this question makes Cassian pause and consider, eventually piping up. )

What Barrow said. Can’t beat coin, for rebuilding. Pitch it to some wealthy Orlesians who might want to run a charity collection. Pat themselves on the back and feel good about helping.
