Memory is too fallible! Sound is impermanent! When the last person who knows the story dies, it's gone, and before that what if they decide one day that the story is boring and they should change it to be more interesting? And some things are too complicated to ever be properly rendered in oral traditionβ€”calculus, algebra, chemistry, how could you learn those things by just hearing them?

Books matter. I'm not strange for thinking so!
laruetheday: anger and confusion! (so many emotions! you only need two.)

Writing can be changed too. There are sooo many written Greek myths that have like five different versions because someone decided they wanted to change some details later on.

Besides I never said books aren't important, just that some people don't like reading.

Never said you were strange either.

Yes, books can be changed too, which is why in the library where I grew up anyone who defaced a book got their hand cut off.

[ which probably explains a lot about ness, like, generally.

after a moment, grudgingly,
]

What's Greek?
laruetheday: the life of the party. (you all took a life here today.)

[personal profile] aberratic 2024-10-24 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. I just meant that cults usually refer to themselves as family, that's all.
laruetheday: (we'll ask Powerpoint.)

[personal profile] laruetheday 2024-10-24 02:15 am (UTC)(link)

My father is a god. he expects offerings and prayers and all the usual religious stuff, but he's also just my dad.

[ It's a weird dynamic, okay ]

Was he a good father, despite the difficulties? Do you miss him?

[ another momentβ€” ]

You do not have to answer, I know this is a very public forum for such a personal question. Or, if you do not mind answering but wish the conversation to be more private, we could continue via crystal, or over a drink at the tavern. Whatever you wish.
laruetheday: robins @ insanejournal (they pick on you? can you introduce me?)
