Is anyone interested in sparring sometime in the near future? There’s a new technique I’ve learned that I’d like to practice with more… Any fighting types are welcome, whether warriors, mages, ninj- I mean, rogues- or anything else at all.

[Now Kain has become a Reaver in truth. He’d done it. He’d drunk the blood of a dragon. He’ll never forget how it had tasted, and what had happened after drinking... It had felt like dying and falling and it had left him passed out for a good long while. Upon waking, he’d felt a difference immediately. He’s done something no dragoon ever has before, and he wonders if this means he’s surpassed his father. He has to train those skills now, of course, he’s still very much beginning. But he’s moved past the point of no return and he’s excited to see what comes next.]

[The following anonymous comment is posted sneakily at an early hour to the bulletin board, by a left-handed writer who very obviously tried to disguise their handwriting:]

We all have certain needs that must be fulfilled. Where I’m from, there was this very pleasing magazine series called Lustful Lali-Ho which depicted… Well, I’ll leave that to the imagination. Dwarves were involved, although they’re not an absolute requirement for what I seek. Might there be something along those lines here? Please place an answer below.

[It's easy to glance at the board and pretend he's just... looking at things in general, so he can read that message. Much later in the evening, Kain casually sneaks back to put up a response.]

That depends on the quality of the artist.

It is. I'm working on mastering my ring of pain... [That sounds so weird] ...a battle move they call the ring of pain, that is. It's an intensive style of combat overall, but I'm already pleased with the results. Which shall it be? I suppose I haven't been on a decent hunt in a while...

[KORRIN YOU'RE AMAZING. Kain has no idea who it was who left that for him, of course, but when he sneaks back he sees it waiting there for him. He glances all over the place before he grabs his new, uh, "item" and hastily retreats with it.]

I know what you mean, I've seen it many times thanks to Asher. He's very talented at laying waste to everything around him. And I'm partial to a hunt; it'd be nice to get out of Skyhold for a little while.

Would you be willing to test your skills against a Templar?

The devastation they- we- can rain upon their enemies is like no other. Think of it, now if I’m injured in battle, I’ll be able to actually use that pain… [It pleases him and there’s a darkly amused tone to his voice. Sure, he’s not invulnerable, and he’d do well to remember that, but he can channel pain in way he never has before. He can turn it against his enemies. The more he hurts, the more they hurt.] Right, then we can meet at the gate, perhaps? Then make our way out from there.

[Kain is going to amass quite the collection before long, not that he objects at all. He grabs the art and takes a moment to look it over, before glancing around and hastily pinning up a reply.]

Good, since I had other plans in mind than hopping around catching flies. I'd like that, though... I need to see how this power works against a mage's. Shall we meet in the training grounds?

[In between his regular daily routines, Kain sneaks back to check out the board. He definitely looks pleased when he sees that list. What a helpful list it is, too. Someone is going to need to spend some quality time in the library. He subtly grabs the list and then quickly walks away from the board, leaving behind a note of Thank you for your book suggestions, list maker.]

I shall always be happy to spar with you, Kain. Just name the time and place.

[The Dragoon's eagerness certainly wins a smile from Alayre albeit briefly. It's almost a shame that the other cannot witness it.]

Very well. I usually finish my rounds during the later bit of the afternoon. Shall we meet at the training grounds then?

It's a useful skill, if a dangerous one. But I'm sure Asher told you the risks by now. [He's many things, but not that irresponsible.] And that sounds good. I'll try to see if Lux will take a nap, then make my way there.

Good, I'm glad to hear that. I'll be heading out to the training grounds very soon and will be there for a while... stop by when you're ready.

That would be ideal to me.

[It'll give him some time to stretch and warm up a bit so he's ready with those new techniques.]

He did, and I also looked into it before I even approached him. [Though he'd given him some more of the specifics about the skill set, the details that only someone using it could know. It'll only feed into his recklessness, of course, but at least now he has a purpose, a direction in which to channel it.] It's definitely the right path for me.

That sounds good to me! This will be exciting, it's been some times since I've had a proper spar.
