I can start. I used to knit, and I find myself missing the activity.

And I imagine it's cold where you're from? What - where do you get the wool from?

[ Pauses, catches up. ] You whittle? What sort of things?

Some goats up the mountain, and sheep down the mountain; we’ve not too many sheep ‘cos there’s not that much grazing ground, but the hold’s not too big either so we didn’t need that much.

Never did much of it though. Better at the whittling. Animals, flutes, little gnomes… I don’t play chess but I been thinking about carving a set anyway just ‘cos it’s a nice project, like.

Oh, yes - [ deadpan ] wizard's chess. The pieces were immobile until you moved your rook to take the knight, upon which the pieces would very much become mobile and destroy each other as if having a miniature battle on the board. [ A moment spared to nostalgia...right here. Under her breath, ] I don't recommend it in human sized scale either.

[ She draws in a breath, then pushes on to what really matters: ] Anyway, you'll soon find out that I never get tired of learning things. So - yes, please, and thank you. Do I buy you a tea or...?

Buy me a drink at the bar, more like. But I’m alright with tea too, ‘specially as it gets later in the year— or even better, spike it with some Marcher whiskey, that way it’s both—

Oh, on the hobbies thing: I also draw a bit, but paper’s hard to come by so I’m doin’ that less these days. Carving just feels less wasteful, you can go find any lump of wood in the forest.
