It seems prudent, given the current situation, for us to publicly identify those who have been acting out of character. I can understand a desire for secrecy, to take any imposters by surprise, but the risk of one of our own being caught unawares seems much greater.

Who has been strange of late? And when did this change in behavior start?

How would one know her?

Tav, my friend, [ with perhaps a bit too much patience in his voice, like it's not entirely real, ] it is very unlikely that this is about you at all. Do you have any broad advice on how to identify a shapeshifter in general?

For Orin? She makes messes of her kills. She wants to be known.

For any shapeshifter from home, they leave viscera behind when they shift.

Very well. If we find any viscera or a messy kill, we will keep your world in mind.

I think it is a madness that would abate a great deal if you would pay attention to what is happening around you before you speak.

[ After Tav's first line there's a sharp inhale, air taken in in preparation for Bastien's additional direct and ungentle commentary.

But the second line makes it unnecessary, at least for now, so Bastien only exhales and leaves him alone. ]

[ Later, Byerly will bump Bastien's shoulder in gratitude. Watching him get unreasonably mean was a bit cathartic for By's own miserable state. Even if Tav didn't really deserve it. ]
