crystal.
Begging a moment of the company's time—
[ Here, a rustling of pages. The hollow thunk of a cup, shifted from one side of the desk to the other. ]
I've been in correspondence with a number of producers and agents and the like these past months seeking a partner in the theater who might assist us in immortalizing the events at Starkhaven, lest the sacrifices made there fall out of public view.
[ A chair creaks. A second set of pages rustles into quiet. ]
After much back and forth, I think we've hit upon the most promising individual with whom we might partner with. If the name Jacopo Sghenini means anything to anyone.
[ Slight pause for the peanut gallery ]
We've a number of things to consider, but the elements that strike me as most important would be the question of our audience, no? A play aiming to entice merchants and farmers is not the same as a play hoping to attract nobility, or sway the king.
Our new partner goes on to list a pack of questions as to the other elements of the production, but if we haggle over each of them we'll be here for the next year.
[ As if that's ever stopped Riftwatch before, and yet. ]
What, you don't think we should arbitrate whether the dragon effects are a worthy investment?
[Apparently the aforementioned peanut gallery is at least partly in residence; Flint's smart remark is only slightly muffled by the distance it has to travel to reach John's crystal.]
( at a similar volume, which largely misses the sound that petrana had made in the first place: ) It strikes me as excessive. But I suppose that artists know their art.
Artists, perhaps. But the decision has been left up to us, for better or for worse. [ A further rustle of paper, as John continues: ] Much like the choice as to whether or not we care to see it done as a musical, or whether we wish "a little comedy scene about Corypheus and the Black Divine" during intermission or to write in a romance between Sebastian and Fiona.
[ Briskly moving on from this, perhaps before the peanut gallery at hand can chime in: ]
The choice is ours, so I'll hear the arguments for or against the attached bullets. See your books, when you've a moment, if you're curious as to the other options for our production.
[ ooc / As promised, the entirety of Jacopo's letter for anyone who wants to really contemplate this artistic vision. Feel free to debate any other aspect mentioned in the letter, the world is your oyster, folks. ]
