ugh asking for help
FORM: crystal
SENDER: Herian
RECIPIENT: everyone
NOTES: discussion of injury etc, potential dive into the depression.
Medical folks - Herian was in the Starkhaven attack and sure did disregard the medical advice she was given not to push herself too far too quickly, and so her everything is very garbage again. Happy to assume she'd not been engaging with healers/anyone who might be physio focused, or that she's been generally Difficult if you want to assume knowledge, or hash out specifics if that makes replying easier.
Good morning.
( And then silence, because how does one do the thing? )
I am... aware time and resources are pressed, as ever they are. If there are any personnel working in the areas of medicine and physical training who may be willing to work with me then I would be very grateful to speak with you.
Overlong have I been... keeping myself in confinement, and it is a destructive self-indulgence to carry on so. If there are those who do swordwork who might assist with rehabilitation once I am able, please make it known. My independent efforts were considerably less effective than I might have hoped.
( To say the least. )

[And then, with reluctance,]
Did used to be a Templar, if that matters to you.

( Less witnesses to her struggles, is the thing.
What a complicated set of feelings she’s trying to wrangle. Herian pauses, though not overlong. )
It is thoughtful of you to make mention. Some hence know me already, but I realise that will not extend to all - I am a mage, once of Loyalist inclination.
( It’s evidently a topic of discomfort for him, raising being a Templar. She doesn’t really love talking about Her Shit, either. )
If you have no objection to working with me, I hold none against you.

[If anything, he sounds relieved.]
Early mornings are best, in fact. We're usually wrapped up by mid-afternoon.

regarding how frequently and for how long they are happy for me to train, and we can proceed from there?

[He realizes he never got her name.]

Who should I ask for, when I visit the grounds?

You'll see me, I'm hard to miss.

[ despite their differences, Margaery's voice is gentle: ]
Did your independent efforts include the stretching exercises we did together?

it’s like she doesn’t exist in a void where she can self destruct without also impacting others. wild. )
They were… neglected overlong. In the last three weeks I have resumed them.
( She needs to take a few seconds, and it might seem the response has ended when— )
I owe you an apology for my behaviour in many respects, Lady Margaery. You cautioned me against the follies of pride, and I disregarded you wisdom.

[ Loras' pride might have even put Herian's to shame. ]
I know it surely cannot be easy, to go from a flurry of activity to feeling completely helpless.
[ her tone shifts to one of more brisk professionalism. ]
What is your current condition?

( If she pressed an apology, is that for the sake of amends, or simply soothing her own conscience? Herian’s head feels heavy and painful, navigating such things when people so dress up their words is exhausting. )
Some aspects are better explained in person. I am much reliant on the cane, and all progress I had made with recovering strength has been undone. Weaker than before, I fear.
( So, you know. Exactly what Margaery and Cosima had both said was a possibility, if she recalls. )

[ the but you need patience is purposely kept unsaid, as Margaery knows Herian may already know it from the thousands of times she's tried to stress it. and when she says - ]
I am sorry.
[ she means it as an expression of understanding for Herian's plight. she's never had to know what it means to be truly helpless like this. ]
But if you would like, I would be more than happy to assist you once more.
[ for the very basics, the stretches and the careful exercises meant to put muscles to work again, where posture is everything and one wrong positioning can set back all the good intentions - Margaery can do that. ]
Will you promise not to strain yourself this time? Unless advised?

I fear I will be well beneath your expectations.

I fear I have been going so slowly as to move backwards.

[ reiterating this, just in case. ]
I know swordwork can be taxing.

( There is a moment of quiet. )
Have you seen people make true recoveries after their muscles are so weakened? To perform with the skill they once had, I mean.
