um, hello? [the voice is very soft and nervous at first.]
Pardon my anxiousness, I'm, ah, not used to this kind of communication being so... open?
I was told I'd need a staff and some guidance in order to use my own magic properly here. The general outlook on mages, however, has me doubting if devoting the time is a good idea or if I should focus my efforts elsewhere. However, if it's not as bad as I'm making it out to be in my head, and someone were interested and able in assisting me, I'd be happy to discuss fair compensation for your time.
Also, upon some recent reflection, I suppose I should offer myself up to one of the divisions of Riftwatch - not Diplomacy though, I'm not equipped for that.

[Ellie carefully files away the existence of the Fey because yiiikes.]
The Ethereal plane sounds crazy. Can just mages get in there, or can other people learn to mess with that?

If you can get your hands on a spell scroll, then absolutely - a person who doesn't use magic could go travel between and withinside it. Those spell scrolls usually require a lot of specific resources and time to make though, so they're quite rare.

You need to have learned the spell to make scrolls of them, and the ones that would allow travel to an alternate plane are beyond my current experience. I'm also not sure if they would work to travel to the Fade in the same way as traveling to the Ethereal Plane even if I did.
I could try making scrolls for some other spells I know though and we could see if they work?

What do you need? If we don't have it here, I could find it.

High quality ink works best, waterproof otherwise the scroll won't work right if damaged. Lots of gold. If the spell requires a specific material then usually one would need that as well when making it, or perhaps something harvested from a beast that has the power to do something similar to the spell effect you're trying to achieve. It depends on how complicated it is. Some spells require gems to be transcribed. [It's really not cheap.]

[Is that even a thing here? She hopes it's a thing.]

I know they brought dragon parts, at least.

Well, I know that they could be used for magic back home but I'd have to look more into it here. Thank you for sharing that bit of information.
