FORM: crystal
SENDER: Loki Laufeyson
RECIPIENT: all of Riftwatch
NOTES: log to come!
[ The voice may be familiar to several, actually, depending on where β be it native to Thedas or a different world β one is from. He sounds smug yet bemused, somehow, and his accent either places him as from London, Asgard, or Tevinter. ]
Hello, Riftwatch. I did get that correct, yes? It is my understanding that there is a war on, involving a dragon? and a mage from a northern country and that a city has been razed to the ground by said dragon.
Am I missing anything pertinent there?
Tell me more about this war. Or about magic, if the war is a topic on which you are tired of speaking. Or whatever is on your mind at the moment, I suppose, I won't be stopping you.
I, having just fell out of a dream several days ago, have been informed that I am not to leave this... charming island called the Gallows [ eugh ] for several weeks. Not even to see the city of Kirkwall proper. So if you have ideas on how one might best occupy their time in such constraints, I would also like to hear about that.

[ He sounds very cavalier, for someone who picked up his crystal, listened to it, set it down for an hour, then came back to it. ]

[ He could be petty. He could be... amused, that there's a version of Tony Stark trapped in this reality.
Or he could get the fuck over it. ]
Mister Stark, I presume?

And if you're looking for something to do, I'm gonna suggest taking world domination off the table. You'd have to arm wrestle this other guy and I'm pretty sure he's taller than you.

[ but also, ]
I'd say you're off to a good start. [ both with his summation of what's going on, and how to keep busy. ] The best thing you can do right now is learn more about what we're dealing with here.

[ This man sounds world-weary. ] Do you have any specific sources I should look at?

[ he adds, after a beat, ]
When I get back, I can lend you some books. I've built up a pretty decent collection.

Of course if you're looking for something a little more mundane, I don't know that I'll be much helpβ or that anyone else will be, for that matter: most of Riftwatch's forces are out attempting to save the world. You'll be rubbing elbows with the fragile few for quite some time.

It isnβt him. Canβt be him. He would have come to her first, surely. After all this time he would have come to her first; for all his tricks, surely thisβ
Orβ might he? For the sake of seeing what sheβd do? To sweep her up and laugh at her shock, grin and carry her off to bed as she shrieks at him in a mixture of profound relief and joy and fury.
Alexandrie reaches for her crystal with hands made steady by shock, sets it to reply in private.
Her voice is less steady. A tremble of a whisper that cracks around the heart in her throat; hesitant, disbelieving, longing all the same. ]
...Loki?

[ Was there already a version of him here? Some mortal, presumably a mage who looks, sounds, thinks like him? ]
But perhaps not the one you're familiar with.

[ Itβs all she can manage; mostly breath, soft and utterly bereft.
She had known there was another, from another world. Hadnβt known what it would feel like to hear him, after more than a year and a half of silence. Like she needs to hear him and canβt bear to, both at once, and there is no escaping the calamity of it. ]
