SUMMARY: A group of apostates bound en route to Tevinter with the intention to disappear into the North are caught and recruited to act as double agents within the Imperium.

REPORT:

Based on the intelligence afforded by Enchanter Rowntree's contacts, we were able to track the previously noted assembly of apostates into Nevarra. Finding their overnight encampment in an abandoned farmhouse, we were able to confer with the mages directly without incident.

After a lengthy discussion, the decision was made to allow the group to continue on their way with the understanding that they would act as intelligence agents on behalf of Riftwatch within the Imperium. I anticipate it unlikely that all of their number will follow through on their guarantee, but believe even two or three contacts placed there to be worth the surrender of a half dozen mages to obscurity in the North.

Of the mage hunters allegedly employed to seek the apostates out, we saw no sign.

NEXT STEPS: Maintain communication under whatever circumstances can be afforded; hope that a few of the recruited agents are true to their word.
