Hey... Hi? Holy shit, okay, uh.

Has anybody else who's been Rifted ever had weird dreams about back home? Really lifelike ones that make you feel different in the morning? Like you just lived through whole years of your life and somehow you're back where you started. But... Different still.

Well... I'm three years younger than I was fifteen minutes ago. So that's weird.

Flattered you think I would've been able to handle any of this at thirteen.

I'm supposed to be twenty. I think I'm... Probably seventeen? I dunno, shit's really muddled, but I definitely have too many arms to be over nineteen.

Too many arms! You cannot say something like that and not explain it.

[windyvoice]

What, you mean you guys don't go through a chrysalis phase where you grow your additional limbs?

[windyvoice]

Huh, wild. Neither do we, I lost my arm a year and a half ago. I guess my body here didn't get that update.

Oh. That is—I am sure I do not need to tell you it is strange. You know it is strange. Does it feel strange? And can I ask how you lost it, your... [ dream? other life? rifters! ] Euh.

[windyvoice]

It feels so weird, balance is gonna be wonky as fuck for a bit til I get used to this again. But hey, I don't have to worry about trying to get around Thedas with one arm. Bright side.

[ Gently sidesteps the question. ]

I am sure you would have been fine if you had only one, but two is more convenient, of course.

When you—when you were gone, [ "gone," ] did you remember us?

[windyvoice]

So much more convenient. Wearing shirts is a pain with one arm.

[ There's a bit of a pause, memories settling a little more, bumping up against each other. ]

There wasn't anything to remember. I guess I never really left my world... Just like I never left here. Honestly that feels way weirder.

[cozen]

Oof. That sounds disorienting. Do you remember everything here now like you never left? Or do you need a tour to find the kitchens again?

[windyvoice]

Depends if you know where they stashed the wine.

[cozen]

Who do you take me for? Of course I know where they stashed the wine.

[windyvoice]

Then I need a tour of the kitchens.

I believe Madame de Cedoux has experienced something similar, should you need to consult with someone.

Did you do anything unusual before sleeping? Or can you recall any detail of your dream about how you returned to that place?

[windyvoice]

I think I fell asleep pretty normally and then I just... I dunno, I woke up. I don't think I felt any different, not the way I do now.

[heirring]

I would encourage you to discuss the matter with Madame de Cedoux; it would be most helpful to see if there was any similarity between what you and her experienced either in...let us say tone. If, say, you and she experienced similar events in the dreaming that would be very interesting indeed.

[windyvoice]

You think there might be a connection?

[heirring]

I think we understand very little about Rifters in general, and about this sort of experience especially, and that it would be little harm to know more.

[windyvoice]

Fair point. I was just thinking I've been through a war. We're in a war right now. If she's had some similar experience, that'd be one hell of a coincidence.

[heirring]

Just so.

Should any such similarities reveal themselves, I might advise you to write them down. It would be beneficial to Project Felandaris and to Riftwatch's records in general.

[windyvoice]

How many of these. I don't know what to call this. A switch, maybe? Do they happen often?

[heirring]

I have personally heard only of the aforementioned Lady's experience with it; if there are others who have had similar dreams, I believe they have returned to where they came from by now. Perhaps it would be best to make inquiries with the Provost on the subject?

[windyvoice]
