SUBJECT: The Slave Situation
PARTICIPANTS: Kitty, Hanzo, Connor, Max
CLASSIFICATION: Private (head of research & head of scouting)
DATE FILED: lmao literally a year ago I'm the goddamn worst (10 Firstfall 9:44)
STATUS: Complete
SUMMARY: A group from the Inquisition went to gather intelligence on the slave resistance to Corypheus' regime in Tevinter. They did not take any action, but established contact and learned a few things.
REPORT:
It is clear that centuries of oppression and inaction have ensured that there is little trust from the enslaved in Tevinter towards those in other nations. Trust needs to be built before anything is even remotely possible. Why would they believe in the Inquisition when those who make up the Inquisition have never raised a finger to help them? Only now that they might be of use are they receiving attention and regard. We need to show that they mean more to us. We need to strike proper blows for freedom, and freedom everywhere, to prove that liberty and justice actually matter to us on a deep level. After all, does equality not start at home? Fair wages for all; that is crucial. Better support for the impoverished. Equal rights for elves. Reduction of the power of the nobility. All these steps would show that we are willing to examine our own faults before we think to try to solve Tevinter's. People such as these might not have had all advantages in life, but they are not fools; they know hypocrisy when it is shown to them.
Three primary leaders: Vasilisa (who believes in Corypheus & Calpurnia) and Tessaria and Solvarin (who do not). Tessaria especially is willing to fight.
-Kathleen Jones
NEXT STEPS: This set the stage for Kitty to do exactly what she was advocating for (in a rambling, roundabout way) up there -- she kept corresponding with some of the (literate) slaves and pro-liberation citizens of Tevinter, establishing a little network of like-minded folks. And she considered this an adequate report describing exactly what she's doing, don't look at her, it's fINE
