This is a very clever little device, isn't it. How delightful to be able to hear your voices before I even see you, I feel I know so many of you already.

And so, my darlings, I have a question for you. Who do you obey? Who do you serve? I have such a fascination with these divisions and their heads. What a funny little organization we are, with power broken so many ways and no single body at the top. Who is the leader then?

Oh, but how could I not be? Five figures with power divided between them... My goodness, think of the possible struggles. Unless you're all so close that there is no true division and you are a unified front? It does so make me want to know what sort of people you all are.

Oh, don't be silly! That sort of thing hardly matters to me. I serve who I'm given to, naturally, but it is very important to know I will be used appropriately.

And how would you be used appropriately?

Killing, naturally. The same as any sword or knife.

Does it disturb you, that the others might have equal share in the Commander's directives?

Well, it is strange, isn't it? There's always someone who's in charge of everyone. Am I Riftwatch's or the Commander's? More importantly, what am I to do if one tells me to kill the other? It's quite the puzzle.

[bouchonne]

Yes. The forces of the Venatori and those loyal to Corypheus are many, after all.

Then you are all united in your opposition to him? How wonderful! I so hoped I would have the chance to kill them!

[luaithre]

[ The subtlest hint of a barely there laugh. Fun hypotheticals. ]

My expectation is that all division heads serve Riftwatch's greater purpose, and guide us in how we might do the same based upon our skill, and their oversight. If one should war with the other, then I think Riftwatch would cease to exist.

And then it's a matter of who did the best in winning your loyalty.

[ A soft laugh. (Wow, this lady is a lot.) ]

Maker, yes. Even if we, at times, differ in how we think is the best way to go about ending Corypheus, we are quite committed to his end. Delighted to hear that you are as well.

That, I think, is what is puzzling me. I've never had to consider the worth of loyalty, but my beloved was perfect. She held my leash and bid me to do her will for the sake of her vision.

[ Said with a casual sort of confidence and reverence, the way the particularly devoted might mention the Maker. ]

It's very difficult to find the appropriate master after her.

[ There's a pause, this time, because that's A Lot to take in. When he speaks, he doesn't sound taken aback so much as thoughtful. ]
