FORM: Handwritten notes on unnecessarily nice paper delivered personally by the platonic ideal of an enterprising young Newsie. He's probably getting paid to do this, but he'll wait for a tip just in case because, you know, enterprising.
SENDER: Lexie
RECIPIENT: Everyone who feels like working in the Project Formerly Known As Northern/Hostile Powers, now Jeshavis! How'd she find you? Who cares! (note: if you care, we can figure it out)
NOTES: Everybody get up it's time to slam now (turns into action! we can handwave meetings too, but get at me on plurk or discord if you please, cause she tryna meet with ev-ry-one)

The state of the office is not what one would normally apologize for, although it is obviously in the process of being remodeled to something only just this side of ostentatious for an organization with shallow pockets. Flowing white curtains trimmed with Orlesian gold embroidery topped by dusky rose fabric draped in the Tevene style shift readily in the breeze, half the furniture has been replaced by elegantly carved and polished reddish wood with gilded accents, and there is a plush rug to match the curtains beneath desk and chairs.
Alexandrie herself is sitting behind the desk reading her way through a stack of papers, but looks up with a bright smile if she hears a noise at the door.

"The quartermaster would like to congratulate the new project leader and also ask that she not go too much further with the redecorating because we still have to feed people," he says with a smile. There's no actual scolding there. He knows that the office needs to inspire some sort of confidence and it can't if it looks cheap. ...Not that his office actually does anything of the sort when it's tiny, but no one comes to his office.
"You know my skill sets and my interests if you have need of them." The note gets waved. "Or if there is something that you feel I'm in need of." Or Loki. He has faith in her now. She's made her choice.

In fact, most of the furnishings might be recognizable as having served previously in the apartments before they were converted in large part to studio space. How thrifty of her!
"I shall likely have something more for you in short order, once I have taken my bearings," a brief gesture to the small immensity of paperwork arrayed neatly across her desk, "but for now, if you can think of any who remain in Tevinter whom you trust to have remained loyal to either House Asgard or who you think might be encouraged to rebellion that we may be able to cultivate as sources of information, I should be well pleased if you might jot them down for me."
no subject
"Of course. May I use a pen and parchment?" It's hard to have an accurate picture of what all is happening over there, with so many armies between here and there, but he has some guesses. "I have not had any word from my father in several weeks. It is... I am not concerned yet, he is not always the most communicative or forthcoming, but it is something I am very aware of."
Especially after their close call with Loki.
no subject
"It is not inconceivable that lines of communication have been cut. Assuming Lord Asgard is still attempting to hold and has not been forced to more mobile tactics, there will be greater pressure placed upon him as more landowners fall into line with the false Archon.
"Part of my hope for the office is that we shall be able to aid in the passing of such information, and in turn receive better notice of Venatori movement from behind the border, aiding all." A pause, and then "Lord Asgard would be of import even were he not your father," she says gently, "I shall try my best to find some way he might be contacted."
no subject
"You're prettier than the last one," he remarks with a little smirk.

Then, after a moment, he clears his throat. "I've been writing to all the prominent families in Tevinter," he explains, "trying to gauge their opinions on this and that. As a friend, an equal."
no subject
โAnd do they reply?โ
no subject
He likes to think the increasing non-answers are because people are so busy dealing with their Magisterium politics that they can't be bothered to check in with one junior Artemaeus, but Benedict has the sneaking suspicion that there's more to it than that. But biding his time can't hurt, right?
"We've gotten some valuable intel, here and there. But I think they've... begun to catch wise."
no subject
Still, no smile. He raises his eyebrows in brief acknowledgment of Alexandrie's, looks around the changed room with more idle interest than criticism, and says, "Baron Deshaies."
The Orlesian lord who sold their people to Tevinter would seem to fall under her purview, now.
no subject
"He will be expecting us, I imagine, but that cannot be helped." A gentle lift of her shoulders. Ah well. "There are a great number of things we still do not know of the situation. For the moment, my thought is to simply have him watched carefully. We may well glean whether he was willing accomplice or had his hand forced by the habits he adopts."
"Alternately we might approach him in all sympathy, professing to assume the latter, and offer him protection." Alexandrie's eyes and smile are not as well matched as the carpets and drapes, which bodes poorly for the ultimate fate of the man regardless of his motivations. She gestures to the chair across the desk from her.
"I should be happy to hear other suggestions."
no subject
โThe Duke de Coucy sounded like he had ideas,โ he says, but that isnโt a suggestion, only a lead-in: โI am sure he is one of a dozen. If they arenโt unified behind a single plan shortly, someone is going to do something stupid, before we canโat a minimum we need to know who bought him and how. There may be others.โ
He doesnโt say that her approaches sound good, but the fact that he doesnโt say theyโre the worst things heโs ever heard is, from him, agreement.
no subject
After all, she had been planning to do something stupid.
"I shall make efforts to meet with the Duke. And perhaps to popularize that we do indeed have intentions of addressing the Baron in a way that sounds officially ominous enough to appease the more bloodthirsty vengeance seekers. Without making promise of it, naturally." It's carefully pitched in tone as both statement and seeking his thoughts; the respect given a collaboratorโa peer.
"As to the second, assuredly there are others. Little occurs in Orlais without becoming part of the larger web and spreading, and I imagine the Venatori are clever enough to use that to their advantage. But webs vibrate even where careful spiders walk, and we shall use it to ours as well."
