Hello Inquisition! ❰ guess who's back!!! ❱ Or rather, Riftwatch — that'll take some getting used to; you've all been very busy these past six months.
I am Adalia Ennaris, newly appointed Head Archivist for Riftwatch, but some of you may remember me from my previous time spent with the Inquisition. I was here for nearly a year before the rifts reclaimed me, and now I return, older and wiser and in charge of all your books. Some may also remember that I grew up in a library, so books and the care of them is very near and dear to my heart.
❰ here adalia pauses, and takes a sort of contemplative, but very pointed tone. ❱
In fact, in Candlekeep we have some frankly barbaric practices when it came to those who would vandalize or steal our books. Vandals could be blinded and have their hands cut off; thieves would be either stripped of all wordly possessions and exiled or made to complete a dangerous quest in search of a rare and precious book to replace what they took. Those who endangered the whole archive would be killed and burned, as, ❰ a light laugh, ❱ and I'm sure we all know this, those who destroy knowledge, be it with ink, fire, or sword, are themselves destroyed.
❰ another pause, and then adalia's tone evens out again. one can almost hear a smile. ❱
I'm not sure what my rules will be as regards care of the archives, but with that as my base to draw upon, I'm sure I'll find something fitting. It's good to be back, Inquisition.
Riftwatch. ❰ with decreasing volume, as adalia moves on to other things, before the crystal abruptly goes silent. ❱ Damnit, I'm never going to remember that —

Thank you, Provost. ❰ just as pleased tbh. ❱
I've got so much work to do — shockingly, the Inquisition's filing and shelving system is nothing like Candlekeep's, and I must rectify that before even thinking of any other pursuits — but I hoped to have dinner with you and your wife soon, if you would have me. I want to hear all about the wedding, and what the two of you have been up to in my absence.
❰ also she has some things to tell you, but. public conversation, so. ❱

We will see you, and gladly, once we return from Hightown.

❰ listen to her earnestness and know this librarian speaks the truth. ❱
When do you think that will be? It's been far too long since we all last had a meal together.

Perhaps a week. Mayhap more. I will return sooner than my wife.

It does not roll off the tongue quite like 'Inquisition'.
However
It has fewer unpleasant connotations for many Rifters.

Yes, I suppose "Riftwatch" never tried to tell us we'd have to end this war in Circles with phylacteries made. It does have that going for it.

I think they would be far more likely to skip such niceties. We already know what it is to be free.
Once we are no longer useful
We would be a liability.

There are several rooms attached to the library that've been converted into restoration space. Please don't touch anything inside or allow anyone else to do so. I'll be returning to my duties... some time within the next few weeks.
