You know, I feel it has been too long since I have had a chance to speak with many of you. That is the way when we are all working so much, no? The coming and going makes it so easy to work with people and never truly know them.

( Imagine her, if you will, reclined on a fainting couch, a glass of port lightly held in one hand, a cigarillo balanced between the fingers of the other, and wearing something appropriately luxurious. )

So, I am wondering, what does responsibility mean to you? More what you consider your responsibilities, than the offerings of a dictionary. Understanding one another is key, I hear.

Responsibility is everything. You owe it to your allies, and you owe it to yourself, to carry out those responsibilities.

And what do you believe your specific responsibilities? These things that you must carry out.

My duties as a Grey Warden, first and foremost. I swore myself to the order, and I will carry out all orders they ask of me. Additionally, I must do whatever I can to protect anyone who's important to me. And.... I also have a responsibility to my family name... I think it's important that you leave behind an honorable legacy.

That must be hard at times, to have so many responsibilities. Have you ever found them to conflict? If your role as a Warden jeopardised your family's honour, for example. What has happened in the Anderfels, for example, does not sit the Wardens in good stead with many. How has your family reacted?

My family are all gone now, but I'm sure my father would have heavily disapproved, as he himself was also a Warden like I am. And like me, he'd always prefer to do the right thing... There are times, such as that example you give, where I would have no choice but to go against my duties... but it would be in the name of upholding a higher honor. The Wardens deserve better, after all.

So responsibility comes down to prioritising, then?

I would say so. There are some things which must be taken care of more immediately, and a failure to realize that could lead to trouble. Sometimes... sometimes one must consider what they value most, and make a decision based on that.
