...it's true that traveling with a group of other anchor-bearers will cause the pain to develop more slowly. The more with you, the slower the pain progresses. The maximum length of time someone could be away could be away with a smaller group that included at least one other rifter would be a month. Closing rifts would also provide temporary relief.

The Inquisition has moved forces to the Western Approach, the Dales and so on in the past. Anchor-bearers were a part of that because there were so many of them together than the onset of pain is effectively slowed to a stop. This has not been tested long-term away from an Inquisition base, but -hypothetically- it is possible.

Of course, that would depend on nearly everyone being in agreement, which I can't guarantee even now. But if the proposal evolves into more than that, I can see further protests.
