( The audio starts with some light strumming of a lute as Chance tunes it a little back into place. He starts talking as he works on this process, stopping every so often to test a note out. )
I've been listening to some local music, which is really nice I might add. ( The note he strums here is sharp, making him pause as he cringes before he continues. ) I'm a bit used to learning my audience where I go, but you know I have a little more to work with since I knew my world enough. I knew the way to frame our worldly themes to fit day to day life.
It's not vastly different here, but it's different enough- ah! ( He sounds a bit cheerful as the sharp note goes back to being proper. ) And some things are universal I'm sure.
Like I know a local favorite that killed no matter the tavern at home...
( The strumming picks up from the leisurely pace he was testing at to a quick and light tune. song referenced found here. )
Jackass, jackass, royal ass
Obedient as a dog
The first to fail his only class
With charm that rivals a hog!
A noble ass with noble hide
Oh you can see it in his stride
And for a copper penny
He will take you for a ride!
( He stops shortly, laughing slightly as he clears his throat and goes back to the leisurely strumming. ) Maybe not always so appropriate. Kids get a laugh out of it, though.
Anyway, I was curious about what kind of music most people tend to like? I need to get working on some new material for a new world.
And I'm not sure about this... but if this world has any bards with any tricks of the trade they're willing to share? I'd be willing to trade a few of my own, if anyone's interested.

[ He laughs now, feeling nostalgic. ]
These days I like the sort of songs that have a story to them, and tell me something about the people the song's about. If they can make me laugh they'll still be among my favourites, though.
It's good to hear your voice again, too. How have you been?

I have a few good stories you might like. At least you're from Faerun, so it won't be too out of the loop for you....
You're giving my voice way too much credit. I'm getting along, though. How about you?

[ That might be unreasonably optimistic. So far there's no actual sign of a way out of here, aside from the rifts which no one can control. Aro isn't giving up on it, though. ]
I'm fine, aside from an onset of cabin fever. Kirkwall is all right. I've certainly had worse welcomes in my time. The culture's very different, though, I'm still getting my head around that:

It's almost like being at home, but then something's just off a bit more than you expect, right? Sometimes I almost think I'm home...
Then I wiggle my toes and remember this isn't even my normal body.

[ What would it be like to be in a completely different body? Aro can't imagine it. He's never had to get used to walking on different feet. Discomfort isn't even the word. ]
Do you feel used to that yet? I hope you've found shoes that actually fit by now, I can't imagine that helped.

It's fine, though. No one looks at me much differently than they did when I was a tiefling, so not a huge difference... Aside from the fact that I am nearly a foot and a half taller than myself. That's a... huge difference. ( shut up. )

[ It's not actually all that hard to picture Chance as a tiefling. It's hard to imagine him as a short one, though. Aro can't help laughing. That was cute. ]
You know I think that means you'd be shorter than me. You can see the world better from up here, you know. You'll probably miss this vantage point once we're able to turn you back.
