[Her tone is brisk, though not unfriendly. She's just eager to get down to business.]

Korrin here. I always love sparring with anyone interested, but now it's for more than just the hell of it. If you're not part of the Forces division and don't mind going toe-to-toe with a giant horned mage, hit me up. I swear I'm less intense than I look. 

Not that it should need to be said, but rifters are more than welcome. I'm always curious about what you can do. If you can pull a surprise out of your ass that'll knock me on mine, I'll buy you a drink.

I would be glad to have someone to spar with. [ Destroying training dummies only gets you so much. ] You know some of my strength is gone, but I will still be worthy.

[There's a smile in her voice as she answers, remembering that voie and glad to have an offer.]

Just give me your best, whatever it is now. That'll tell me what I'm working with. And it can be just blades, nothing fancy.

[ Six is smiling too, pleased with herself. ]

My best is what you'll get. I've no reason to hold back with a willing partner.

Good, good. I'm not a healer, but I can keep some potions on hand, just in case things get more intense than we plan.

[ She was a healer, once, and she huffs a sigh. ]

I doubt we will do that much damage.

I certainly don't intend to, it's just sparring. [And she tries to go easier on smaller races until she knows them better, but realizes it might be condescending to say that.] At any rate, I'll get to stretching and then head over.

[ Six might find it a little condescending, but only just. She's big enough to take care of herself. ]

[Korrin will stretch and go through some practice movements with her sword. On a stand in a corner she's placed a pitcher of water and some cups. Sparring is dehydrating work, after all.]

Well, I've retrieved some books from my recent trip to Antiva, which detail weather summoning/controlling techniques that coastal mages have used. It sounds similar enough to what you do that I'm hoping you can help me develop them. I work with the Naval Presence project, and the ability to affect the weather in any way could really help us out.

Absolutely. How about we meet tomorrow, in the library? Once you're caught up, we can always make a field trip to the Wounded Coast, find a spot that bandits haven't claimed...or clear one, if there isn't.

[A snort of amusement in response.] You sound entirely too eager for that.

It doesn't have to involve magic, though. I just need to spar with people and report back, so it's more about what you can do than me.

I suppose I wouldn't count for the assignment, since I'm part of the division, but perhaps sometime anyway? I'm trying to work on my dodging, and I'd rather it be you throwing things at me than a Venatori.

Hey, of course. I can always make time for you. I'll be stretching over by the training area, whenever you're ready for it. And we can play it by ear, for how long.

Lovely, I was just about to break for lunch. I'll bring you out something from the kitchens on the way, if you like?

A bit later, Nari shows up with a biscuit held half in her mouth and her hands full with a cloth-wrapped bundle of the selfsame baked good and a small jar of jam with a knife stuck out of it.

"It'f fome of 'a win'her aff'l--" she starts around it, and then rolls her eyes with a hampered grin at her own unintelligibility, waiting to speak until she'd folded crosslegged to the ground near where Korrin's stretching and rested the bundle in her lap so she can remove the biscuit from her mouth. "It's some of the winter apple that's left," she says, tilting the jar back and forth at her Vashoth friend in an invitation to join her.

Korrin straightens up as she realizes there's company and glances over to a small table where she'd placed a pitcher of water and some cups. Sparring is thirsty work, after all, and it also helps for washing down treats from the kitchen. She pours some water into the cups, then heads over to offer one to Nari.

"I can tell, just a whiff of that's giving me an appetite." Sitting down, she likewise crosses her legs and reaches over to spread some of that jam atop that delicious-smelling goodness.

I would be willing to spar, if you're still looking for someone for that.

[He always has to keep his skills sharp against mages, anyway, so this seems like a good way to do that.]

Absolutely. Come on down whenever you're up to it, we'll go as long as we can last.

In that case, I can be there later this afternoon. It's been a while since we've had a good excuse to spar. [He's definitely curious to see what will come of it, whether or not she's changed anything since the last time they'd sparred. Which definitely seems like ages ago, now.]

It has, hasn't it? We'd better fix that, since we seem to be on a lot of the same missions, lately.

Which I'm glad for. There are few mages I'd care to have along in my company, but you're one of them.

[Mages who don't act like mages are the best kind. Or who don't act like magisters, anyway, who aren't in love with their power for its own sake, but view it as a battle tool. That's why he's always gotten on so well with Korrin, really.]
