I grew up in the Starkhaven Alienage. Starkhaven is another of the cities of the Free Marches, and as with most places, elves and elf-blooded humans are restricted in where they might make their homes. ( To put it... extremely optimistically. ) The Alienage itself can be grim. Always muddy, and damp, but all my family has hailed from there. The people there can be the warmest and kindest I have ever known.
( Not all, not always, when she is elf-blooded and held in suspicion and contempt by elves and humans alike, but it was easier when her mother was well thought of. She need not dig into those particulars now, especially when it could paint the people of the Alienage in a poor light. )
We have our own language there. Derived from elven long ago, perhaps— I know not the origins of it. Rarely spoken in the presence of outsiders when it can stoke their ire, but something precious. Enchanter Ceallach speaks it, as well.
