I'm not sure. He probably has reasons he thinks are good ones but in reality they're stupid.

What do you need to talk to him about?

Ah-- [His ears turn slightly red, and he frowns, looking away.]

I upset Pel, earlier. Badly. Which - upset him.

But I think I... I think I'm finally working out what to do about it.

[His eyes narrow a bit.]

You really need to stop being so good at that. [The way he says it, it's not really like he's accusing Gavin of anything. It's more an observation of how much he upsets Pel, and an acknowledgement of it. He assumes Gavin wishes things were different between them too.]
