( the voice that comes through the crystals is young, light, high lilting orlesian; educated, but after the fact, someone whose speech is influenced by time spent around the upper-classes rather than someone who is identifiably one of them. the tone is thoughtful; )
There are an awful lot of Dalish, aren't there?
( like, any. )
Are they all one clan?
( gosh, they can probably hear this. )

You must be one then. The rest of us are not surprised!

Ah, well, at least some of them are pretty to look at.
no subject
You must point them out.
no subject
A lot of beautiful elves.
no subject
Thank you.
( he probably hasn't seen her. )

[He may not have seen her yet, but he's just going to compliment her anyway, while putting some vanity in there.
In this, his voice isn't really suggestive so much as positive and uplifting. It's not as much flirtation to assume she's gorgeous but way more of a 'yay girl, slay!' sort of encouragement.]

( easy certainty from her )

Good.
[A pause] In a more serious note, did you have any questions about the Dalish here? I think everyone else is covering the basics.

[He's quiet for a moment, as he doesn't want to voice his own in such a public place]
I am Cyril, by the way. It's a pleasure to meet you.
no subject
My name is Margaux.
no subject
Margaux... That's a beautiful name. I suppose it would have to be, in your case. It'd be terribly tragic for a beautiful woman to have a name that didn't match.
[Again, no real flirting here, those he is a teasing a bit now in a friendly sort of way. Anything at all to get far away from the topics the other Dalish are bringing up.]
I - for instance - have a name that my mother picked out from a human book. My understanding is that there's even a human noble in Orlais who shares it. I hope he's at least a decent sort.
[He might be trying to get her to talk about Orlais now instead, but doing it in a round about way.]
no subject
human nobles aren't a thrilling topic of conversation; she veers away as hard. )
Someone else must share it other than that.
no subject
The Dalish tend to give their young names that reflect the elvhen language, or that are inspired by the trees. Sometimes both.
no subject
( decisively said. )
Are they pretty?
no subject
I think a lot of things about the Dalish are pretty, but they can also be very hard and unforgiving.
I would, however, say that about a lot in Thedas.
no subject
They aren't unique, no.
( it turns out. pel hadn't been wrong, that margaux is disappointed-- she'd just been wrong about in what. )
