I am a little new here, and perhaps I've missed something important, but is it common practice to lock up innocent people, for no reason? I was given to understand that this organization, this Inquisition, is meant to stand as some kind of bastion for all, a saving grace in the face of sure doom. Or is that just pretty words, to hide the truth?
[He pauses, just for a moment, but despite the lack of visual information, it has all the laser-like focus of a nun's stern disapproval. You have been found wanting, young inquisition. Shame on you.]
Seeker Cassandra Pentaghast, for those who might not have heard, seems to have decided that it is appropriate for her to act as judge, jury, and-- well, a law unto herself, concerning the behavior of Rifters. I wonder, with everything else that's happened since my arrival here, if she thinks no one has noticed.
[He means, perhaps, the issue with Anders, among other things. A good strategist knows how to use their shield; the timing wasn't the only suspect thing about all this, but it certainly seemed like a factor, to him.]
I'll get to the point: Galadriel should be freed if she's done nothing, or if she, or anyone else [Not to name names, Gavin Ashara] has done significant wrong, there should be a fair trial, open to public scrutiny. What happened here is, in my opinion, inexcusable.

...Galadriel deserves none of this. [His tone is quiet but fierce.] The Seeker cares not for justice if she believes that jailing the innocent is proper.

The Seeker seems tyrannical enough to do exactly that given that no one expressed as of why Galadriel sits within a cell.

A person can be arrested, and held, to a point, but there's a deadline by which charges must be formerly filed or the suspect is released. Once filed, the charges are public record.

Unless she is executed for whatever she has done--and despite not knowing personally the reasons, I very much doubt she has done something so egregious under all of our noses--then she will hardly be kept locked up forever. Lady Cassandra has been known to, on occasion, react with more force than is strictly necessary. [That's called overreacting, Malcolm.] While I trust the leaders of the Inquisition to know what they are doing, I will ask her myself what is going on and suggest she not shrug off the concerns of those who come asking. I agree that it is troubling that no straight answer has been given, but that is hardly reason to suggest what has been done is wrong without more information, as is being done now.

[Then a sobering.]
What concerns me is the precedent it sets. Without any system of checks or balances, how is corrected when mistakes are made? Especially in cases as this, with rifters like myself who may not understand everything in this rather large and varied world. If we make a mistake, and the reaction is - overzealous - we don't have an army willing to swoop in and defend us. Are we meant to wait in a jail of a world we didn't ask to come to until someone admits they overstepped?

You know of the dark history your people have with those of Elvenkind and how easily their rights have been pushed aside for the sake of man's dominion over Thedas.
[Guess who've been talking with elves lately?]
Galadriel is not of your realm but she is indeed an elf. The Dalish look to her as a beacon of hope and source of wonder. They fantasize of the past when their people stood equaled to men. She's a living embodiment of what they someday hope to achieve and yet your Inquisition would throw her within a prison without so much as a word.
[He pauses briefly to gather his thoughts here. Aragorn did say quite a bit.]

Calm yourself, my friend. Acting in anger and fear will do no good.

[Or rather he'll try.]
It's just difficult to believe that they would see need to imprison her.
