As a matter of fact, I've seen a great many dwarf statues. I've seen so many that I've published several papers and a book on dwarven architecture. While I'm sure embroidery would be perfectly lovely, I can assure you that not all dwarf statues are considered ugly, nor are all surface dwarves opposed to the medium.
