What a tumultuous time it is in this world. An empire at war, ancient protectors showing what many feel to be their true colors, strangers falling from the sky -- the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I am not of this world, though it bares similarities to my own -- namely a prominent disdain for the other and ridiculous class differences -- as much it it shows its differences. Empires rise and fall; I admittedly have little interest in wars that have played out hundreds of times in similar ways across hundreds of worlds.

However, I do want to know what you find interesting about this world, if you will share.

He takes it in his hands, of course; the nug squeaks in protest, but he is gentle. It is examined with unblinking eyes for several long moments before the Outsider back to Thranduil. ]

Its hands appear to be rather clearly for digging. Not praying.

Well... yes. It develops as children grow, and we have to learn exactly how to use it, but it's something we're either born with or we're not.

[She pauses for a moment, then, hesitating a little before she responds.]

I'm sorry to hear that, then. From what you've said, magic isn't something you're born with, in your world. Does that mean you had to go out of your way to learn magic? Because that sounds sort of... dangerous, given your circumstances.

Most likely, yes. The Mage-Templar War didn't stop it, they just kept the fighting off the grounds. As long as the cities of the Free Marches aren't at war with each other, and there's no real reason for them to be at the moment, they'll happen. People need an outlet.

We use the wind and the waves to power so many things that we use though I do not speak of this after the incident I mentioned to you. And after the debacle in the Fallow Mire - a festering bog - they could certainly do with magic to keep the food. But they have had so many wars and so many Blights on and on and on...a very deep rut. It must go near to the core of this place.

[Speaking of cutting to the core…] You did? [A beat.] In the Approach or in the Fade in the Approach? Or both?

That is... ( She almost doesn't know what to say. ) ... certainly different. I had not yet considered how the different environments of worlds would cause animals to develop differently.

A great many things are not as stable as they appear. Even past apparent stability.

It could explain why those that are called "qunari" appear so different than the other humanoid races.

Perhaps one could convince the Inquisition that it would be good to send a party to the next tournament, both to recruit and to be seen in a positive light.

Magic comes from the Void. The Void gifts it to its representative, who may then gift it in turn to those in the mortal world -- and his chosen may gift others.

As the current representative of the Void, I did not have much choice in the matter -- of either magic or being the representative itself. But I have had four thousand years to get used to it.

They use whale oil, in the Isles. I would- rather they did not follow suit, here. [ WHALES :C ] I wonder if those in the north, in the land called Tevinter, use magic for such things. It seems to be less of an issue, there.
