Hello! I have something of an announcement: Varric Tethras will be visiting the Gallows shortly in the role of acting Viscount to meet with us and so we should really start to think about what we would like to work on with him. I think that we should take time to consider how best we can help Kirkwall, or ways we could bulk up our own defenses. (You know, considering,) But if anybody has entrepreneurship in mind, we should all discuss.

Oh, and he knows about our eluvians so nobody needs to lie to him or try to work their way around that.

— And please don't lie to him anyway for fun or I'll be angry with you.

If the, uh. Disruptions we seen in other cities start cropping up here, oughta have a plan for that. Dunno how much no one can do, but procedures t'fall back on might keep folks from panicking.

That's smart — bet Doctor Strange'd have ideas on what hurt folks need. Could be a way t'keep things out of the city proper, too, but in reach. If we got something shouldn't be around civilians.

[dissolving]

Yeah. City's dense enough that anything happens'll hit houses. Going somewhere to report it, maybe that keeps 'em from running back in.

Enchanter Julius asked after Inquisition mages, see if one of 'em would help out th'guard and Knight here. Seems a fit if they got the time.

In an ideal world nothing would take place near civilians but it's a reality we're going to have to start facing. Being prepared helps. May keep their faith in us, too.

I agree. 'S more... Research's got a lot in storage.

Gallows is a safe place for it, mostly, but reckon the attacks could've gone worse if some of it got hit. Thaig's not a target, and 's just us there. Could be a good backup.

Time is quite the ask for any of us, presently, but the Inquisition has ever had a greater number of warm bodies than we might boast. The ask is not unreasonable.

Oh, are they any good? I've been most focused on historical nonfiction, I haven't had time to read any novels.

They are good if you like crime stories...

[aberratic]

You know, I'm not actually sure that I've read anything that could be considered a "crime" story? A lot of quests, certainly, some heists and such, but not "crime". What does a crime story entail?

[sprent]

(Gela makes a little noise on the other end of the crystal, pauses.)

Well — a crime, to start with, and then a detective who wants to solve it. If it is a good story they give you many clues, enough that you think you've worked it out, but then there is a twist!

That certainly sounds exciting! Perhaps I shall have to pick up one of Messere Tethras' novels before he arrives. Have you read them all? Do you have a favourite?

Only some. (Through them Gela discovered she does not like crime and detectives as a genre, but she won't say that lest it harsh the vibe.)
